When there is a dangerous fugitive on the lose, me and my team of officers have all the resources we need to try and get this suspect back into custody. The biggest issue we have is that every hour they remain on the run, they could be putting innocent lives in danger. Even with reward money being offered, we were having trouble getting any leads in our search for a very dangerous drug dealer.

This suspect was considered armed and very dangerous, and already made it clear that officers were going to be in for a shootout if they tried to bring him back to jail. This is the type of suspect you have to be careful with because they will do anything possible to avoid capture. If we were going to bring this suspect in without risking other lives, we had to do it in a way that he would not see coming.

On a recent visit to the jail, a corrections officer told me about all the success they were having removing drugs from the jail with the new Securus Technologies inmate call system. I got to thinking that if the call system could identify any chatter at all about our suspect, I might be able to tighten the noose around his neck without him realizing. Sure enough, a relative of the suspect who was in the jail was talking about how his family was almost busted harboring a fugitive. These inmates love to talk, and his comments pointed us to exactly where the suspect was held up all these weeks.

At five in the morning, we burst into the suspects hideout and caught him while he was still sleeping in bed. By the time he realized what happened, he was on his way to be reunited with his cousin in our jail.
