These days it can seem as though everyone and their mother has a podcast and in a sense that is partially true. Podcasts have begun to explode in recent years as the format becomes more sophisticated and platforms such as itunes, Soundclound, Acast and Spotify make it much easier than it has ever been for podcast creators to distribute their podcast shows. There are podcasts that cover nearly every topic that one can imagine: from food, to politics, comedy, literature and music. While many people and media companies are launching podcasts there are not many podcasts that can say that they have their own app. Recently Norman Pattiz, who is currently serving as the chairman of the podcasting company PodcastOne, announced that this company would be releasing new software that would enhance the experience of listening his network’s large number of podcasts.

Part of the appeal for many people who create podcasts and for the companies that specialize in podcast production is the fact that podcasting is an intimate experience for the people who are consuming them. The app that podcast network PodcastOne is launching seeks to deepen the intimacy that is inherent in the process of consuming podcasts by making it easier for listeners to connect with the voices that they hear on a weekly basis and opening up ways for listeners to connect with each other. The new PodcastOne app will allow listeners to watch their favorite hosts as they record their podcasts. The new app will also be able to offer users the ability read articles and see images that are exclusive to the app.
